Cancun, Q.R. — For the second time this summer, a hotel has been found in violation for releasing turtles without proper authorization. The Federal Attorney’s Office of Environmental Protection (Profepa) visited Krystal Grand Punta Cancún Hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone after being notified the hotel was releasing baby turtles. Several citizen complaints said the hotel was releasing the turtles for tourist entertainment. Through a statement, Profepa officials said they did find the hotel, located at kilometer 9.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone, was releasing baby turtles without proper authorization….

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Dozens of people have filed official complaints against the high tariffs being charged by CFE. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco) has received 45 citizen complaints in Playa del Carmen for service abuse by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). In order for a complaint or set of complaints to be registered as abuse, Profeco says that it needs a minimum of 30 official complaints filed with their department against the same company for the same reasons. The organized event, Limpieza Internacional de Costas y Cuerpos de Agua, saw more than 5,500 volunteers clean 62 kilometers of state beaches.
