Arrests made after Playa del Carmen waiter shot dead outside Fifth Avenue bar

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen bar waiter was shot dead early Thursday morning outside an establishment along Fifth Avenue. The man was found by police after 911 reports were made of shots fired.

Two people were reported injured by firearm around 2:00 a.m. in a shooting that happened outside a bar along Fifth Avenue and 10th Street. Patrolling officers were at the scene where they located the two males. One was pronounced on scene, while the second was transferred to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Witnesses to the shooting provided police with descriptions of the men and their motorcycle. Playa del Carmen police were successful in locating the bike and arresting the two on board.

In a news briefing, the SSP of Solidariad said “in responding immediately to a report of two people injured with a firearm, police officers from the Secretariat of Public Security and Municipal Transit of Solidaridad secured two subjects possibly related to this event.”

The pair were detained from an intersection near Flor de Ciruelo and CTM Avenue of the Real Ibiza subdivision. Arrested was 18-year-old Luis “N” from Veracruz and 20-year-old Carlos “N” from Mexico City.
