Armed Acapulco men set public transport buses on fire

Acapulco, Guerrero — An attack against a public transport bus was reported in the city of Acapulco Wednesday after it was set on fire, making it the third of the day.

The last incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when a passenger bus traveling along the Base-Caleta route was set on fire near Tamarindos beach in Acapulco.

Authorities have not made any reports of injuries, but have added this attack to two others against transport carriers in the same day. Acapulco authorities reported the discovery of another transport bus on fire at noon.

That bus, which was providing service along the Pie de la Cuesta was set on fire by armed men. A third Urvan transport vehicle was found on fire in Diego Hurtado de Mendoza Street in the Caravali neighborhood.

With these, officials report more than 50 public transport vehicles burned during 2019 in the port of Acapulco.

On Monday, carriers from Acapulco held a march along the Miguel Alemán Coastal to demand authorities put an end to the insecurity and extortion they experience every day in the port. In response to the march, an urban bus driver was killed by criminals.
