Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — To prevent the spread of coronavirus, a specialized company has been hired to sanitize all port terminals.
Alicia Ricalde Magaña, head of Apiqroo, verified that a specialized company has been hired to sanitize port terminals administered by Apiqroo to reduce the chances of contagion of the COVID-19 or Coronavirus.
Ricalde Magaña, head of Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) said “Governor Carlos Joaquín’s instructions were clear. The priority at this time is to implement the necessary actions that prohibit the spread of the virus that caused the pandemic that we are now living around the world.”
The state official indicated that port terminals are usually fumigated to prevent the proliferation of insects, but this time the disinfection of all common areas, both administrative offices and the passage of tourists and users of the facilities, was added.
At the moment, the Isla Mujeres terminal has already been sanitized. We will continue with Puerto Juárez , Puerto Morelos, Cozumel and Chetumal with substances that last up to a month, but in three weeks, it will be sanitized again in order to reinforce it.
She commented that high-risk port workers have been sent home, while the rest were set specific hours and days of work to ensure healthy distance without neglecting the daily operation of the terminals and customer service.
