Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Another taxi driver in Playa del Carmen has been shot and killed in the residential area of Ejido.
A taxi driver from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union was shot during the early morning hours of Sunday.
Preliminary reports say the man, identified as 35-year-old J.R.G.M., was killed at 2:30 a.m. He was hit four times with bullets as someone in a black vehicle drove by, shooting him.
Witnesses said that the taxi driver was parked in Colonia Ejido in front of the Poliforum when two armed men appeared from a black vehicle and shot him repeatedly.
After hearing gunfire, neighbors called emergency 911, however when paramedics arrived, the man had already died.
Police arrived at Juarez Avenue to cordon off the area and begin with their investigation as well as a search for the shooter.
Last week, another Playa del Carmen taxi driver was found dead, shot to death outside his cab in the irregular In-House colony.
