Another joint operation sees 12 removed from central Playa del Carmen streets

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A joint collaboration has resulted in the detainment of another 12 people from the streets of central Playa del Carmen. On Saturday, elements of the Mexican armed forces and local police participated in the operation that resulted in the arrests.

In a statement, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office reported a joint operation on Fifth Avenue with the the purpose of detecting drug outlets and inhibiting the commission of other offenses.

They said that after the deployment of elements of the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy, National Guard, State Public Security and the Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo, was the arrest of 11 adult men and one minor.

On their persons, authorities reported seizing drugs, cell phones a motorcycle and one car.

According to the FGE, elements are periodically carrying out these types of operations to prevent the proliferation of spaces that could be used by criminals to commit crimes.

The 11 adults were taken into police custody from central Playa del Carmen areas in three separate operations. Earlier this month, the another joint operation saw the arrest of 26 people from central Playa del Carmen, one of whom, had an outstanding arrest warrant for double homicide.
