Animals among those rescued by Mexico soldiers

Mexico City, Mexico — Dozens of pets have been rescued from earthquake rubble during marine search efforts around Mexico.

While search and rescue look primarily for human life, rescue efforts are extended to all life including pets. Dozens of cats and dogs have been found alive and placed in numerous shelters around the city waiting for their owners.

An extensive list of overflowing shelters with found pets has continually been circulating so owners can be reunited, however, one unusual pet was rescued over the weekend and also brought to a shelter.

Marine soldiers spotted Lucas the parrot through a tiny hole in rubble under a building that collapsed in Lindavista. The parrot was trapped inside the hole for four days before being discovered. A video of the bird circulated on social media where neighbors identified him as Lucas.
