Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – A new survey shows that of the 250 best beaches in 66 countries, Mexico ranks as some of the most expensive.
A report released by UK-based company TravelBird showed that, according to their Beach Price Index 2017, Playa del Carmen is the most expensive beach in Mexico. Ranking 150th position on their global list, their survey found a day spent at a Playa del Carmen beach purchasing sunscreen, drinks and lunch costs a beachgoer an average of 29.39 GBP or 673 peso.
This figure is followed by Tulum Beach who took 160th place overall ranking the second most expensive beach in the country with an average of 28.56 GBP or 654 peso per person. Akumal was ranked as the third most expensive costing an average of 28.01 GBP or 642 peso per person, while Cancun’s Playa Delfines scooped up fourth place with 27.68 GBP or 634 peso per person per day at the beach.
The most expensive beach on their global list, La Plage de Maui, Tahiti in French Polynesia costing a beachgoer 60.13 GBP or 1,378 peso per day. The least expensive beach was Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An in Vietman at 13.54 GBP or 310 peso per person per day.
