Cancún, Q.R. – An American man, who was wanted by the FBI, was arrested in Cancun over the weekend.
The arrest came after the man failed to prove his legal stay in the country. On Friday, staff from the National Migration Institute (INM) along with Ministerial Police found the American living and working in Cancun as a surf instructor.
He has been identified as Eric Francisco Decleve of Oregon. The man, who was using an alias of Erick Victor Munhoven Navarro, was arrested at noon on Friday on a public beach at Kilometer 8.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Mr. Decleve has been wanted by the American FBI since 1998 for crimes of sexual abuse against two minors.
After an immigration review, Mr. Decleve was handed over to US officials and extradited back to the United States Friday afternoon.
