American tourist dies while jet skiing with son

Cancun, Q.R. – A tragic end to the Easter holiday as an American tourist dies during a day of jet skiing in Cancun.

A support call was dispatched for municipal authorities to the Crown Paradise Club Hotel at kilometer 18.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone on March 31 where they found a man suffering from a suspected heart attack.

According to local officials, the accident occurred around 12:35 p.m. outside the Crown Paradise Club Hotel when a man, who was jet skiing with his young son, suffered an acute myocardial infarction, or heart attack.

A nearby worker from Aquaworld said he saw Mr. Erling in distress and pulled him from the water into his boat and returned him to shore where he helped beach lifeguards administer first aid. Emergency 066 received a call for a water rescue, however when paramedics arrived, the man was without vital signs. He was identified by relatives as 43-year-old Brian Erling of New Jersey.

The jet ski company said Mr. Erling had just rented the watercraft and was about 400 meters from shore when they saw the craft capsize, spilling both the adult and minor passenger into the sea.
