American man arrested arriving at US border with $1.2 million in Mexican marijuana

Phoenix, Arizona — An American man has been arrested after trying to cross the US border from Mexico. The man, who authorities identified only as a 55-year-old resident of Phoenix, was arrested after a search of his mobile home found more than 2,500 pounds of marijuana hidden in various compartments.

The mobile home was inspected by canines, who alerted to the presence of drugs. Upon entering the unit, border patrol officials discovered 120 packages of marijuana.

According to Customs and Border Protection, the man was attempting to cross the Lukeville port of entry. He was taken into custody and handed over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office.

The drugs had a value of more than $1.2 million USD.
