All eight bodies found on Yucatan ranch identified as missing Costa Maya men

Xcalak, Q.R. — All eight of the bodies returned to Quintana Roo by the SSP of Yucatan have been confirmed as those from Costa Maya. Last week, the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) Yucatan returned the bodies of eight men that went missing the week before.

The men were reported missing by their families from Xcalak and Mahahual. At the time of their discovery on a Yucatan ranch, only six of the bodies had been positively identified.

On Monday, State Attorney General Óscar Montes de Oca confirmed that all eight bodies found on a Chikindzonot ranch have been identified and are those kidnapped from the week of June 22.

“The identification of all the bodies has already been achieved and they correspond to the people who were in the state of Quintana Roo. We are continuing with this investigation,” Montes de Oca stated.

He added that so far, their investigation has lead them to involvement in drug shipments as the motive for the killings, but, without providing details, he said other motives are still being looked into.
