Akumal villagers burn private property notice

Akumal, Q.R. — A property privacy notice was removed from the side of a hotel and burned this week as some villagers continue to rebel against the public beach access.

Hotel Akumal Caribe placed a notice on its property indicating that is was private only to discover it had been removed a burned despite the presence of armed security guards contracted by CEA (Cedntro Ecológico de Akumal).

The large canvas notice stated “Attentive notice. This is private property. It is not a public access. Hotel Akumal Caribe has a reservation grant
ed on February 28, 2017 by the Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo. Official: FGE / QR / AMPTUL / 02/945/2017, addressed to the Director of Public Safety and Transit of the State of the Municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo”.

Public disregard for the land use continues as some feel that such notices mock the people and refers only to specific property, not the beach access.
