Cancun, Q.R. – Direct flights from Paris to Cancun are being made available to accommodate Air France supply and demand.
With the onset of winter, many European airlines are increasing their travel schedule to warm destinations including Air France. As of October 24, Air France will begin offering four weekly flights from Paris direct to Cancun. The airline will use their 468-seater 777-300 aircraft for the journey.
The direct-route flights will be available on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and will offer 14 business class seats, 32 premium seats and 422 economy seats.
The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau mentioned, “With the onset of winter begins the influx of European tourism. Airlines find that a minimum 70 percent occupancy on their planes are profitable.”
This year, further growth is expected in French tourism with France and Mexico exchanging delegations last year as well as promoting one another’s cultural, culinary and tourism markets. While in France last year, local Mexican delegates promoted many aspects of Cancun and the Riviera Maya including the underwater museum and whale shark swimming experience.
In celebration of the carrier’s 80th anniversary and Grupo ASUR’s 15th anniversary of operations at Cancun International Airport, Air France offered a one-time Paris to Cancun flight in November 2013.
According to the Association of Hotels in Cancun (AHC), France has become the region’s fifth largest European market, reporting a 9.7 percent growth in the first five months of this year.
Roberto Borge Angulo, Governor of Quintana Roo remarked, “The choice of Cancun is very symbolic, confirming once again that Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula is positioned as a highly attractive destination for all the actors in tourism industry and foreign investors .”
