Cozumel, Q.R. — Beginning October 1, Aeromexico will be offering direct flights from Mexico City to Isla Cozumel.
The daily flights will take passengers from Mexico City to Cozumel’s international airport. The mayor of Cozumel, Fredy Marrufo Martin, says this new flight is very important in reassuring the island remains an attractive tourist destination. Better air connectivity will certainly help the hotel industry and other tourism services.
The additional Aeromexico flights will be in addition to the current Interjet flights that are offered four times per week – on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.
Mayor Marrufo Martin says that Cozumel is a place with rich natural, cultural and historical richness, with welcoming people who invite domestic and foreign tourists to arrive at the Island of the Swallows. This reinforces the influx of domestic tourism to the island.
Similarly, the mayor stressed that Interjet has played an important role to Cozumel as they’ve contributed to the continuous influx of visitors.
Marrufo Martin also adds that last November, American Airlines resumed their Miami-Cozumel flight four times per week – Thursday to Sunday.
