Accident along Tulum highway claims life

Tulum, Q.R. — An auto accident along the Tulum-Coba highway Wednesday has left one dead and several injured.

A family traveling in a van who were reportedly visiting the area for the holidays, lost control of their vehicle along the highway Wednesday night when they tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

The oncoming vehicle caused the driver of the van to crash into a tree. The driver was killed instantly while one woman was rushed to hospital in serious condition. Other passengers were also injured, but there were no reports to the degree of injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Alberto N, an evangelical pastor. The accident occurred near the town of Francisco Uh May in the municipality of Tulum. Seven other people were injured.

Reports say the driver of the oncoming vehicle fled the scene.
