Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A five-year-old child drowned Saturday while playing in a pool inside the Dolphin Discovery Park on Isla Mujeres.
The minor, who was a national tourist to the area with her parents, died after drowning in one of the park’s pools.
Paramedics from the Red Cross were called to the park at 1:40 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they were unable to help since the child had already died.
State officials visited the park and the scene where the child reportedly drowned. They arrived with numerous questions since there are lifeguards on duty at each of the pools inside the park.
Police arrived to tape off the area while Civil Protection temporarily closed a section of the park.
