Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Government of Solidarity has announced an investment of more than 31 million peso in the expansion and rehabilitation of public lighting in different neighborhoods of Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras.
The Director General of Infrastructure, Urban Development and Environment, William Conrado Alarcón, reported that in total there are five works that were developed in 2017 in public spaces such as parks, roads and sports units, which contributes to the safety of users, as well as the enjoyment and enjoyment of these areas.
“These are works of great importance for the public, since street lighting is a main need. Many of these actions have been requests of the people during the public hearings, so they respond with real benefits,” he said.
He also added that more than 6,800 luminaries have been recovered throughout Solidaridad, which in comparison is like having rehabilitated all the lights on the federal highway from Cancun to Tulum.
Among the completed public lighting works is the extension and placement of 96 luminaries in the Bellavista and Bellavista Extension neighborhoods, in which 5.2 million peso were invested, benefiting 4,400 residents. Also, 194 lights were installed in Puerto Aventuras benefiting some 5,000 people at an investment cost of 8 million peso.
In the Sports Unit at Mario Villanueva, all luminaries were rehabilitated with an investment of one million 493,000 peso for the benefit of the more than 5,000 users who play sports daily in this space.
Conrado Alarcón added that currently, the introduction of the public lighting network on Avenida Chemuyil is being carried out in its second stage, in which 6.8 million peso are invested for the benefit of 30,000 inhabitants. This work began in September and will conclude at the beginning of December of this year.
Within the works of lighting of the municipality of Solidarity, the Municipal Government in charge of Cristina Torres Gómez, began work of repair of public lighting along 22 kilometers of the federal highway. In this action, more than 8.7 million peso will be invested.
Along with these public lighting works, the General Directorate of Public Services of Solidarity, in charge of Yolanda Álvarez Banderas, says more lights in the downtown and tourist area of Playa del Carmen will be completed.
