Authorities continue their search for missing Playa del Carmen inspector

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Ministry of Public Security reports the deployment of a large operation in search of one of their own who has been missing since Tuesday.

The corporation said that since it became aware of the disappearance of inspector José Antonio Archi Yama, all the operational areas of the Quintana Roo Police were deployed in coordination with local and federal authorities to locate his whereabouts.

José Antonio Archi Yama was reported missing Thursday by his family after failing to return to his Cancun home in SM 92 from work in Playa del Carmen two days earlier. His vehicle was reported located Thursday night at 9:20 p.m. in SM 208 of the Villas del Sol residential subdivision of Cancun, however, he has not been seen or heard from.

An investigation has been registered with the State Attorney General’s Office for the alleged illegal deprivation of liberty filed by the Legal Department of the Secretariat. The undersecretary of the State Police, Jorge Alejandro Ocampo Galindo, has met with the victim’s brother, Isaac Bernanrd Archi Yama, to further their investigation.

José Antonio Archi Yama is in charge of the State Police of Solidaridad located in Playa del Carmen. Both ground and aerial monitoring have been implemented in his search, which continues with support of the federal search and rescue forces coordinated by the National Guard.
